Ludwig Schaafhausen counsels clients in all fields of intellectual property; his professional priorities are related to trademarks and contracts as well as coordination of complex patent and trademark infringement proceedings with international aspects. Significant cases have been conducted in the fields of fair construction, packaging, automotive engineering as well as video and audio systems. Ludwig Schaafhausen is a member of numerous scientific and professional organizations like GRUR, AIPPI, FICPI, UNION and VPP. From 1989 to 1996 Ludwig Schaafhausen was President of the Federal Association of German Patent Attorneys (Bundesverband Deutscher Patentanwälte e.V.) and since 1993 he is Associate Judge at the Senate for Patent Attorney Affairs at the German Federal Supreme Court (Bundesgerichtshof). Ludwig Schaafhausen is Vice President of the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property and Copyright (GRUR) and the chairman of the board of the regional group Frankfurt am Main of GRUR. Further, he is a member of the board of the German National Group of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI). In 2001 he was decorated for special service to the nation with the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. Ludwig Schaafhausen is married and has three children.
